Rose Garden

Beginning … taking it to pieces, improving the soil. Planting it up with lots of the roses I brought from Archenland and some Geranium Rozanne, Lady’s Mantle and Verbena bonariensis, edged by beautiful grasses and with Snow Queen (Himalayan birch) as the queen of it all. It took 3 weeks!

Wild Edric rose

Tomorrow … we plant the North Hedge, along the back of the garden, where the field is in the first picture. Some lovely native hedging going in – a crab apple in the RH corner, some hornbeam and wild privet to keep the north wind off with a field maple growing up out of them and the existing willow and I’ll also be encouraging the box that’s already there. That’ll be fronted with 3 Wild Edric shrub roses and the quite low growing purple wild salvia I brought from Archenland too.

There’s native hedging going all the way up the north side … more of that later.
