The Am Fear Liath Mòr is known as a supernatural being, spirit of place, on some mountains in Scotland, particularly Ben MacDhui and Buachaille by Glen Coe. There are stories that he has thrown stones around a camp so the climber has come out of his tent in the morning to find himself encased in a huge pile of small stones.
