A friend is making me some leather buttons to go on a jerkin I’m knitting. Geoff Calvert makes all of his hand-made leather goods at his workshop in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. He says … “Most of my leather is bought as large sections of vegetable tanned hide, from UK suppliers, and I cut and dye the leather myself, though I will use pre-dyed leather when I find a particularly nice piece. I also use the gorgeous oak-bark tanned bridle leather from J&FJ Baker in Devon, England’s last remaining traditional tannery.  My items are small and affordable, such as purses, belts and drinking vessels, made in small batches.”

This is one of his beautiful belts …
