Yesterday was a good day but “rain stopped play” with regard to the walk – very frustrating! The Boat was good, food excellent and I ate too much! Beer good too and Paul enjoyed a very nice Nettle Wine. Lots of locals in the pub which was great fun as we all ended up chatting, it makes such a difference when there’s locals and I’m glad folk are using the place. It gets a lot of trade from walkers as it’s on the Wye Valley Walk and right by the river path but the people who live around there go too.

The weather’s really wet, ground sodden, only any use to seasoned walkers, the holiday walkers won’t come out in this. That’s a shame for the pub trade. Every time we decided to set off yesterday the heavens opened and the gods poured bathloads of water down so we stayed indoors! Went off to see friend Jo and her new garden projects. Great time – rain even stopped there long enough for us to get a walk around the garden (about 3 acres). Jo’s had the pond cleared (many folk call it a lake!) and got the new veg garden stripped of turf – the turf all piled under black covers to rot down into super topsoil for the raised beds. we promised to go and dig later this month! Will try to get more pix when we do – to wet and grey yesterday.

The pic is Jo’s pond … now cleared of willow and alder – will be great later in the year and a we add plants.
