Caterpillers, Cabbages & Nasturtiums

July is the time the cabbage white butterfly lays her eggs … on cabbages! the darling caterpillers then eat their way through the cabbage !!! There are several CW butterflies aboutt he garden but I only found a couple of caterpillers yesterday and no eggs. There was a butterfly inside the net though with the cabbages so I must keep my eyes peeled there.

I planted nasturtiums by the cabbage bed and I’ve seen the butterflies go there so I’m hoping they’re laying there – they do prefer nasturtiums to cabbages given the option. It means the flowers get shredded but we do get food to eat :-). Will keep you posted on developments here.
